Here are some Brazilian agate pendant light fixtures custom made for this beautiful kitchen in a lake home on Trout Lake in the Cross lake area of northern Minnesota. Three of the fixtures hang above and illuminate a large granite slab island where the family gathers for informal meals. They drop 102 inches from the tongue and groove ceiling hanging about 6 feet or eye level from the floor. Each pendant is illuminated with two 60 watt spiral fluorescent soft white bulbs and fill the area with a warm glow as only light through agate can give. The large slab agates are sliced and polished Brazilian agate and are accented by smaller Lake Superior polished whole agate. The “vine work” twisting around and on top of these pendants are sculpted of copper as are the down rods and ceiling caps. The smaller pendant hanging in the corner above the food preparation area is approximately the same size but only drops 24 inches total. To commemorate a cherished moment between the client and her grandchildren I added a life size copper sculpture Dragonfly that is attached to the corner pendant but is able to be detached and moved to any of these pendants.
